Still here

Yes, I’m still here. Just haven’t updated in a while, but will soon. Promise!

Rambo in Burma

The trailer for John Rambo (2008) is sadly out, marketed by some unheard of movie studio. As expected, it has the gratuitous mindless violence and story line that makes no sense. There also appears to be a religious aspect to Rambo’s character that was not explored before in his previous films. Was this element added to somehow justify the killing?

I am still baffled why Stallone thinks the 80’s genre of war movie will work for him. He looks aging, desperate and totally merciless in the trailer clip acting out a vengeful hate unseen before. With a tag line like “Attacking Soon”, how can it go wrong right?

It is disappointing to see such a movie created at the exploitation of the Burmese people and the escalating crisis there. They deserve better than this.

Watch the video and judge for yourself.

Hairy Thief

As if there aren’t enough problems with flooding, flu outbreak, and power outages in Burma, a new dark threat has emerged! The latest hot item on the streets is none other than ladies’ hair. It appears that long haired women are now being targeted for their beautiful hair by having it cut off unknowingly and then being sold.

“My long hair was cut while I was on my way back from the office. I found out only when I got back home,” an unidentified female bus commuter was quoted as saying.

The woman said her friend’s tresses were cut while she was walking down the street and she only noticed when some remaining strands fell. Another woman’s hair was cut while she was shopping at a roadside store, the journal said.

If hair thieves can fetch up to $320 USD for the newly cut hair, then it is indeed a profitable enterprise with low risk.

Must warn my fianceé now!

For the love of sour!

Seems like a lot of food products are going for the sweet-sour flavor now. Although, I never took to the Sour Patch Kids or Super Lemon variety, I do enjoy a good pickle.

But how about a Kool-Aid marinated pickle; watermelon or cherry perhaps?

The sheer unnatural bright color puts me on edge. At least the kids like it, albeit further deteriorating their already stained teeth. Bad Koolickle!

Whats next, Hawaiian-Punch flavored jalepeno peppers?

Fake Eggs, Chinese style

Gross and outrageous! Apparently, in China there are people manufacturing “fake” eggs created using caustic chemicals and dyes. With the melamine scare now in full swing, all kinds of nasty deeds are coming into light now.

The chemicals used in synthesizing the faked eggs include baifan (alumen), gelatine, lactone, carboxymethyl cellulose, calcium choride, sodium alga acid, sodium benzoate, lysine, paraffin wax, calcium carbide, gypsum powder…

Jump to the link and you will see the full process of producing a human made egg. Seems like more trouble that just to find a chicken?

Honey, I’m home!

Wow, talk about an entrance for your wedding ceremony! Riding on an elephant in your La Habra, CA neighborhood must be cool.

Just to make it more special, the bride arrived on a boat in what looks like their local golf course.. I’m sure the neighbors enjoyed and joined in the festivities too.

“We kept it secret, and when everyone saw in the morning – oh, everyone’s eyes popped out,” Prufulla recalls.

Now, how can I rent an 8,800lb elephant here in Woodinville? :)

The Forbidden Fruit

Durian must be the only fruit where either you love it or hate it. To those that can’t stand the smell, there is now renewed hope! A Thai scientist with some careful crossbreeding may have figured out how to remove that nasty odor once and for all.

“There is probably no other fruit that elicits such passion — and revulsion — as the durian.”

The only question is, does it taste the same and will the legions of fans accept it?

Personally, I think I will stay out of this ripening controversy and let the durian stay where it is.. off my plate!
