One Question IQ Test

From Chronowatch, “here’s a one-question IQ Test to help you decide how you should spend the rest of your day….”

There is a mute who wants to buy a toothbrush. By imitating the action of brushing one’s teeth, he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done.

Now, if there is a blind man who wishes to buy a pair of sunglasses, how should he express himself?

Think about it first before hovering mouse over answer.

If you got this wrong- please turn off your computer and call it a night.

The Secret

A few months ago I came across this video called The Secret and have been utilizing some of the techniques. I should be more diligent but if you have seen it, you will know that it sounds crazy at first. Its basically a self-help guide to get what you want out of your life. However, its high production value and use of many influential supporters give it some merit, including some Ph.D academia. I admit that it does have some very interesting quotes and insights about how the “Universe” can in one way or another garner your goals and objects of desire.

One aspect that is not very pleasant to hear is that everything that you have accumulated so far is based upon your own wishes. So essentially, you are your own master and can blame no one else for the sorry state of affairs that you currently in. You have actually wished for these negative or positive elements in your life. No, you can’t blame your boss, neighbor or ex-girlfriend!

The good news? You are now armed with the knowledge and instructions to take control of your immediate circumstance! No longer are you a hockey puck being hit around with impunity by the lawless world. The Universe is available to be commanded at your whim, just like the Genie in the Bottle. An analogy in the video that is seriously emphasized, but hard not to chuckle when watched.

I do like the historical background for how The Secret was kept from the masses, and would have liked to see more of that. But who really knows if its true? Did I read the right history book in school? There are real-life testimonials from people who have used The Secret and have had ultra-amazing successes both professionally and personally. If I can achieve half of that, I would be extremely happy and impressed. Not to mention an instant endorser.

I’m going to continue to try using The Secret and see what happens. There’s a lot of content that is covered and frequent viewings I think are necessary to really absorb and understand the full impact of the message that is being conveyed. But I am always keen to spot any brainwashing material that is subliminally implanted in the video! So far so good, nothing yet.

Stay tuned!

Fry or not try, there is no bake

Had a flashback for a second for fried chicken that my family used to cook. Take some chopped onions (not too fine), throw in hot oil and wait for few minutes for it fry. Then take your seasoned coated chicken and dump into same pot with frying onions. What you are left after cooking is fried chicken with a very nice onion flavor that is surprisingly not too overpowering.

Not to mention the meat is juicy and succulent. I have not found any place that cooks like this, and I don’t think the Colonel comes close. Credit to UD for the pics.

Clouds of the World

I’ve been following Delerium since their first album release in ’95 entitled Semantic Spaces and have seen the complexity of the music grow. Their new release Nuages Du Monde really shines and follows in the same vein of style. Ethnic, tribal and atmospheric sounds are spread out among the songs. However, they have pleasantly brought back some nice vocals from earlier albums with Kristy Thirsk. Some would describe her as having the “most angelic voice” in the industry.. and I tend to agree. It fits beautifully with the moody swing of the track in Self-Saboteur.

I’m really amazed that Rhys Fulber and Bill Leeb can pull off such a powerful side project as Delerium, considering that their focus has been with Front Line Assembly for so long. Definitely the best electronic musicians of their time and another stunning album, 5 stars!

Some of these are obvious but I think we forget to do a lot of these things or don’t realize it!

This Old Barn

This is one of the two barns next to my work building. Way back when, the entire lot used to be a dairy farm with cows and the whole milking thing. When the company bought the land, they were required to keep the old barns and renovated them. The one pictured is used for company meetings and has a fitness gym inside for employees to use. The other barn is now a small restaurant that I go eat lunch at. Sometimes I think can still smell the !@$*… 🙂
